Dwarf: Dwarf trees are very winter hardy. They are 35-45% the size of a standard tree. Normally the trees grow to a height of 6-9 feet, depending on variety. It yields fruit usually 2-3 years. Staking dwarf apple trees is recommended for anchorage.
Semi-dwarf: Produces sturdy trees about 55-70% the size of standard trees. It's a very hardy tree and transplants easily. Semi-dwarf trees have exceptional winter hardiness and good anchorage. The bearing age of this type of tree is usually around 3-5 years of age.
Standard: Average height of a standard apple tree is 22 feet. The bearing age of this type of tree is usually around 5-6 years of age and it has a long life expectancy of 35+ years. Standard apple trees have excellent anchorage and are adaptable to a wide range of growing conditions.
