Research has shown blueberries have more nutritional value than any other fruit. They contain high levels of antioxidants, vitamins and anthrocyanins for fighting everything from memory loss and heart disease to infections and the common cold.
Blueberry plants last for many years and increase in size and productiveness as the bushes become older. They are somewhat self-fruitful, but fruit set will be greater by planting more than one variety. We offer stocky, 3 year old well-rooted bareroot plants.
A NOTE ON BLUEBERRY CULTURE - Blueberries require a loose, acid soil (pH of 5.0 or less) well supplied with organic matter. When planting we suggest fertilizing with Miracid, and work into the soil 4 to 8 tablespoons of Soil Sulphur per plant. Repeat application of Miracid in mid-July, and again early each spring and after fruiting. To maintain the proper pH a top dressing of Soil Sulphur every 3 to 4 years is sufficient.
