Flowers reportedly flash in the presence of a lighted match. Hence, the common name 'Gas Plant.' This long-lived perennial has attractive lemon-scented foliage and showy spikes of white or rose colored flowers from late May through July. Plants grow 2 to 3 feet tall. They prefer rich, deep soil and perform best when left undisturbed. NOTE: Foliage and flowers can cause skin irritation, so wear protection when handling.
