Pieplant should be in every garden as it's the earliest produce in the spring. Use it in mouth-watering pies, sauce and baked goods. This variety produces long, thick stalks that have a dark red color with a light interior. Cooks up to a nice strawberry-red colored sauce. Its natural sweetness requires less sugar than most varieties. A fine northern variety developed in Winnipeg, Canada.
