Adaptable, hardy, drought-tolerant perennials with attractive, feathery flower spikes. Hardy in zones 3 to 9. An excellent plant for difficult sites. Flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies. Good in beds, containers, and rock gardens. New Red Feathers Echium (11650) is a Plant Select winner. May reseed in the garden, but not aggressively.

Maintenance

For full sun to part shade. Easy-to-grow, low-maintenance plants that tolerant most conditions, including heavy clay and dry, sandy soils. Deadheading prolongs flowering. Plants are deer resistant and drought-tolerant. May be somewhat short-lived, but usually persists by reseeding.

Fertilizer Recommendations

Use low rates of Algoflash Flowering Plant 4-6-7 Liquid Fertilizer (51087), Neptune Fish & Seaweed Fertilizer 2-3-1 (51221), or Osmocote 14-14-14 (51173).

Alternative Products

Other drought-tolerant perennials include Butterfly Plant, Delosperma, and Sedum.

Complimentary Products
