Hardy perennials with attractive foliage and flowers. Excellent for adding color to shady spots and good in garden beds, pots, and mixed containers. Makes a good groundcover for shade. Plant in spring after the last frost so that roots are slightly deeper than in the pots.

Maintenance

For part shade to full shade in moist, well-drained soils. Solar Eclipse Heucherella (12353) tolerates full sun. Prefers soils rich in organic matter and benefits from mulching.

Fertilizer Recommendations

Use low rates of Algoflash Flowering Plant 4-6-7 Liquid Fertilizer (51087), Neptune Fish & Seaweed Fertilizer 2-3-1 (51221), or Osmocote 14-14-14 (51173).

Other shade perennials with attractive foliage include Heuchera, Hosta, and Tiarella.

Complimentary Products

Plants are moderate feeders and benefit from regular fertilization. Combines well with Astilbe and Groundcovers.

Usually problem-free and naturally resistant to pests. Leaf spot is an occasional problem. Heucherella varieties were developed by crossing Heuchera and Tiarella.
