Enjoy a sweeter, more tender substitute for cabbage, kale and collards. Also called sea-kale cabbage and couve tronchuda in Portugal, this European bred kale is closely related to cabbage. The wide, blue-green leaves are traditionally used in soups and stews. Enjoy the crunchy, white ribs braised with sausages or raw as a sweet, juicy snack. Tolerates cold well. A novelty item in U.S. markets.

This large and boutnious kale was a standout STAR in our garden this year! I only grew 8 plants because I know Kale can really take off, and this was very true for these beauties. The did great despite being started at end of June (we had historically wet June in MN). They kept growing well into October only stopping for hard freeze in November. Each leaf is so beautiful, clear white veins, and so succulent! Easy to wash off and when steamed are a great complement to just about any dinner. Highly recommend!
