This innovative melon allows fruit to stay on the vine to maximize sweetness without becoming soft. The large, attractively netted, 7 inch oval fruits have a small seed cavity, weigh 5 to 7 lbs. and ripen early. The firm melon-orange flesh is sweet and juicy. Battles disease and stress resulting in high yields of uniform, high quality fruit.

I grew Athena this year instead of Ambrosia because the description said it would hold better in the garden. We get busy and don't always get to the garden every day so I thought I'd try them. I didn't really notice them being any better at holding longer and the flavor and sweetness couldn't match Ambrosia so I'm going back to that variety from now on.

This melon Did not let me down! Germination was 95% in somewhat clay soil. Had 9 plants and got 34 6/7 pound sweet, juicey, melt-in-your-mouth melons. Awesome crown set. Fertilize every two weeks with a high potassium formula. These will not let you down!

Very sweet. Has a very thin rind and melon is tasty right up to it. Very prolific yield -- we got several large melons per vine.
