Very early maturity makes this heirloom icebox-type watermelon a mainstay in northern gardens. The round melons have a thin, hard rind that is nearly black when mature and are about 7 to 9 inches in diameter, weighing 6 to 12 pounds. Crisp orange-red flesh is unfailingly sweet and juicy. Has small brown apple-like seeds. Well-suited for home garden, local markets and shipping.

Produced lots of fruit and very easy to grow. Fruits have lots of seeds though. Plan on plenty of space as the vines are very prolific.

Only had 2 of the pack germinate, both of which shriveled and died within the first week of sprouting. The other variety we planted this year had 75% germination and are thriving. Perhaps an off year for them, or it could be the hybrid.
