Grown throughout Europe as an ornamental evergreen shrub or ground cover, the lingonberry is also highly prized in Scandinavian countries for its bright red, tart and lemony, long-lasting berries used for preserves, wine, sauces and pastries. Related to cranberries, the berries are a rich source of vitamins and minerals. Grows 8 to 12 inches tall and spreads by rhizomes to form an 18 to 24 inch mat of shiny dark green foliage. White flowers are followed by berries ripening in late summer with often a second crop in the fall. Grow like blueberries in an acid peat soil and good moisture in full sun or filtered shade. Use little or no fertilizer.

they came and were planted with great expectation, absolutely nothing happened once Spring came. I got busy and missed the cutoff of replacements I do plan to reorder

It grows very slowly. After three years, the three I planted are hardly bigger than when first planted. The soil needs an acidic pH, and after two sulfur treatments mine is still not as acidic as it should be so this may be stunting growth. Despite no fruit and slow growth, it's a fantastic small evergreen shrub.
