Gourmet quality.  Deep purple spears are very thick with no fibrous strings so the entire spear can be used.  Flavor is unique, sweeter than green asparagus, with a mild, nutty taste.   A delicacy when cooked and so tender it's often eaten raw.  Very productive.  Turns green when cooked.
