(52 Days) Grows a sturdy bush, 15 to 18 inches tall, which bears a heavy crop of round pods, 6 to 7 inches long, very meaty and free of strings and fiber. The flavor is outstanding! If pods are kept picked as they develop, the bushes will bear over a long period of time. White seeded.

not blue lake
Nov 28, 2023  |  By Martin Horvath
I am glad to see others writing in about their problems with Blue Lake beans. I have had this issue in the last several years but this past year was the worse. The answer I got from support was that the beans were stressed and reverting to their pole bean heritage. Other bean varieties in my garden were fine so stress was not the issue. Also, my friends that had Blue Lake beans from other sources had no issues at all.
Owner Response: Please try the new Blue Lake Superior that will be available in the 2024 catalog.

Not Blue Lake Beans
Nov 6, 2023  |  By Jennifer Plihal
Like others have posted- I planted Blue Lake Bush Beans- first harvest last week- I had round beans, flat beans, very flat beans, and poke beans. So frustrating!!
I am a market gardener - and this "mistake" definitely makes a dent in our profits.

This year the bean seeds appeared to mixed with another variety. They were flatter more like the Hilda -pole vines.

Blue lakes not breeding true?
Aug 4, 2023  |  By Donald K Grimes
I agree with previous review. Most of the beans were Flat with a heavy bean. I have gotten Blue lake many times and on occasion would have beans like this but this year it was 90% of my plants.

Would like to find a better bean
Aug 3, 2023  |  By Gretchen D
This package of beans seemed to be mistakenly composed of two or more varieties. Some (the smaller proportion) looked like the pictures. But most beans were rather flat, more pale in color, often with a wavy or hourglass type shape. All lacked flavor. I wouldn't purchase again.
Owner Response: We are actively searching for a similar bean that will perform better and more consistently. Stay tuned for more information.
