Peonies bloom in May and early June. Use them in beds and borders and enjoy them as fragrant, long-lasting cut flowers. Plant in a sunny, well-drained location, spacing no closer than 3 to 4 feet with eyes no deeper than 1 1/2 inches below the soil surface. A mulch for winter protection is recommended. Be patient, as Peonies sleep the first season, leap the second season, and typically bloom in their third. All are 3 to 5 eye divisions except where noted.
