(90 Days) We've always made the claim that this is the perfect cabbage for anyone who likes to grow the biggest produce in the neighborhood. This photo shared with us by Craig Clark is a testament to just how large Megaton will grow. Pictured in the cabbage cradle is Craig's grandson, age nine months. Talk about a cabbage patch kid! The cabbage was grown by Daryl Dixon of La Porte City, Iowa. Daryl plants Megaton not only for its large size, but he finds it grows well in clay-type soil. For the past two years he has harvested 22 pound heads. Even at this large size the heads hold without cracking and the solid white interior retains its mild, sweet flavor. Megaton has a great disease resistance package that includes resistance to Fusarium yellow, tip burn, ring spot and split. We would like to thank Daryl and Craig for sharing their garden fun with us.
