(su) (76 Day) Open pollinated. Popular since the early 1900s. Plants yield two or more 5-7" ears on 5-6' stalks. The 8-12 rows of golden-yellow kernels have old-fashioned sweet corn taste. Widely adaptable. Heirloom. Untreated seed.

Normal (su) sweet corn varieties offer old-fashioned, mildly sweet flavor. The sugars in the kernels convert to starch more rapidly than other types, so they must be used quickly once mature. Isolate from sh2 and sh2-A sweet corn varieties as well as field corn, ornamental corn and popcorn varieties. For home gardens, stagger plantings at least 14 days apart. For acre-sized and larger plantings, space 250' apart.

When planting a combination of su, se and se/sh2 sweet corn varieties, for best results, select varieties with varying maturity dates to avoid cross-pollination.
