Russian quince are unique for their tender and mild pineapple-like flavored fruit. The ornamental trees display white flowers in late spring followed by large, waxy yellow, highly fragrant rounded fruits. Pick in October and allow to soften. High in vitamin C and pectin, they are used for jams, jellies, baked goods, flavoring, and canning. Disease resistant. Budded on quince rootstock.

Hardy, Great fruit yields
Dec 6, 2025  |  By Regan
Planted a single Russian quince tree from Jung's 10-15 years ago out of curiosity. I've been impressed with its prolific fruit yields every fall. It's still doing great in northern Pennsylvania. Bears aromatic fruit that need to be cooked. Reminiscent of pear. Makes a really tasty fruit cobbler. Interestingly, opossums here like to eat the fallen raw fruit.
