For a mass of color and real beauty, a canna bed is hard to beat. They are easy to grow, withstand heat, are not bothered by insects and bloom from July until frost. In Zones 3-7, canna rhizomes must be dug in fall and stored inside over the winter. For best results, dig the rhizomes after the first frost and allow them to dry down for a few days before storing them in peat moss in a cool, dry, dark and frost-free location.
