Daylily

Dig a hole about 12 inches deep and 12-18 inches wide. Form a mound of soil in the bottom of the hole. Position the bare root daylily on the top of the mound, carefully spreading the roots over this mound so that the crown will end up not more than 1 inch below the soil surface when the hole is back filled. Backfill soil up around the plant and firming the soil over the roots. Water well immediately after planting, slowly ensuring air pockets are removed. Water new plantings following the 1 inch of water per plant, per week rule, which equates to about 2.5-3 gallons, every 2-3 days. If you are gardening in a warmer zone, increase watering needs as required for proper growth and blooming.
